Foxboro AD916AE Digital Control System

The DIN rail mounted FBMs accommodated by the baseplate are compact,

plug-in modular assemblies used to interface field devices with the host control

station. The FCMs, having the same form factor as the FBMs,

perform signal interface functions. For example, FCM10Es are used to interface

the Ethernet trunk Fieldbus with the 2 Mbps module Fieldbus, and FCM2Fs

are used for fiber opticcommunications extensions between baseplates.

The FBMs and FCMs plug onto the baseplate by means of their two,

48-pin connectors, and each is fastened in place by two screws.

The EcoStruxure™ Foxboro™ DCS Field Control Processor 280 (FCP280) is a distributed,

optionally fault-tolerant, field-installable controller module.

The FCP280 performs regulation, logic, timing, and sequence control with

connected Foxboro DCS Fieldbus Modules (FBMs).

It also performs data acquisition, alarm detection, and notification.

The FCP280. through a chassis-mounted network adapter, is connects to the Foxboro DCS

control network with standard fibre optic or 100 Mbps copper cable (see figure below).

The FCP280 requires Foxboro DCS Control Core Services Software v9.0 or higher.

A system with the FCP280 and this software is called an EcoStruxure

Foxboro DCS Process Automation System.

The FBM233 Redundant Field Device System Integrator (FDSI) module

provides an Ethernet interface between single- or dual-port field I/O devices

and the EcoStruxure™ Foxboro™ DCS.

Each FBM233 module has an RJ-45 connector (10/100Mbps copper

Ethernet connection) on the front of the module for connecting dual-port

Ethernet devices.

The FBM233 connects to an Ethernet switch or hub to communicate with one

external device or up to 64 external devices.

The combination of a pair of modules provides redundancy at the fieldbus

module (FBM) level. In this configuration, one FBM233 is the master and the

other is the tracking module. Input points on the control station are updated

from device input points received on the network connected to the master.

Device output points (depending on the I/O driver) are written by both the

master and the trace module.
