Woodward understands the time-intensive nature of Power Generation projects. Ensuring the longevity of

components is one way we can make our customers successful. Woodward has supplied and supported the

well-established SPM-D line of synchronizers for 20+ years. With the state of the art Drop-In replacement

successor, SPM-D2 the life of this synchronizer line is now extended. All of the SPM-D2 synchronizers are

password protected and are configurable either through HMI as before or through ToolKit configuration

tool with USB connectivity.

The new SPM-D2 is ready to be shipped from the manufacturing facility by end Feb’16. The SPM-D versions

will continue to be available as long as they can be built (anticipated through Apr’16). However, only upon

specific request.

Availability of SPM-D synchronizers

After 15-March-2016 any POs with old SPM-D item numbers cannot be accepted. We will request

our customers to change the PO to the corresponding SPM-D2 item numbers that are form, fit and

function successor.

In certain instances when an old SPM-D item number must be applied, upon specific request till 30

April-2016 Woodward can provide the old item number until the stock is depleted.

In these special circumstances the accepted orders of the old SPM-D will be delivered till 30-June

2016.

During the transition period, production of the old SPM-D synchronizers is continued for a short

while via a dedicated temporary production process. This forces us to apply a 50% price increase on

16th March 2016. The pricing of the drop-in successors remains the same as that of corresponding

predecessors before the price increase.

Limited spares based upon the available inventory

01st May 2017 – 30th April 2019

Limited repairs based on components availability

Further parts obsolescence from electronic manufacturers can present a challenge to post-life support

plans. Woodward strives to hold inventory, or look for alternative parts when components are obsolete.

However, there are times when components can simply not be obtained and where sufficient last-time

buys cannot be made. In these cases, Woodward cannot always guarantee that we can maintain the

rationalization support plan.
